Sycamore Elementary School

Where Children Become More and Lions Learn to Roar

Home

Hi!

My name is Erin Robertson. This is my second year teaching ESL, but I have been teaching for 6 years now. I love being a part of the Sycamore family and the Collierville School District. I am a Collierville resident and I attended Collierville Schools when I was younger. I earned my teaching degree at The University of Memphis in 2010. I recently earned my Masters in ESL at Walden University. I have two step daughters Maddy, 13 and Anna, 12 and I have two daughters Charlie Rae, 4 and Blake Ryan, 1.

I love teaching ESL. One of my favorite things about ESL is learning about my students' culture. In ESL, we celebrate everyone's culture and primary language, while we work on improving the English language.

Razz Kids

Collierville Schools’ ESL department is very excited to be subscribed to Raz-Kids, an online library of exciting reading materials.  Raz-Kids helps students improve their reading skills as they listen to a book read for modeled fluency.  Students can also read the book to themselves or aloud for practice.  Interactive quizzes are available at the end of each book to check for understanding.

Here is how to access the website and your child’s reading assignment from any computer or table connected to the internet:

  1. Go to https://www.kidsa-z.com/main/Login from your internet browser and click log in or download the Kids A-Z app from the iTunes app store.
  2. Type in the teacher’s username: erobertson11 and click go
  3. Find your child’s name on the chart and click on the symbol
  4. Enter your child’s password. If your child doesn’t know their password, send me an email.
  5. You child can also read freely from the “Reading Room”. Your child can choose to listen, read, or take a quiz by clicking on the symbols below each book.

Moby Max

Dear Parent,

We are excited to implement a new web-based curriculum called MobyMax in our classroom. MobyMax is tailored to your child's individual needs, and I think you will be very impressed by how fast your child will excel while using Moby. Moby's features include:

-Placement tests that accurately identify where your child excels, and where his or her "missing skills" are
-Targeted instruction to "fill in" those missing skills
-Systematic review sessions that ensure that your child retains 100% of what he or she has learned

Best of all, your child can access Moby from your home computer at any time.

Students have been given a login. Feel free to email me for your child's login information.

Once logged in, your child will immediately start the lessons and begin improving his or her missing skills.

You can sign in as a parent as well by selecting "Parent" from the drop-down menu and entering your child's username and password. You will be able to monitor your child's progress and even send messages to me.

Reminder

Remember to check the link for your child's ESL class. This is where I will be posting any news or updates.

Seesaw

Dear Parents,

This year we're going to use a new tool to share what we're learning in class called Seesaw. Your child will have his or her own learning journal, and you can get notified when your child adds new items. It's completely private -- only you can see your child's journal outside of class.

Kindergarten parents: Click on https://app.seesaw.me/s/101-215-861 to sign up -- it takes just 30 seconds.

1st grade parents: Click on https://app.seesaw.me/s/288-460-186 to sign up -- it takes just 30 seconds.

2nd grade parents: Click on https://app.seesaw.me/s/260-280-348 to sign up -- it takes just 30 seconds

3rd grade parents: Click on https://app.seesaw.me/s/564-704-429 to sign up -- it takes just 30 seconds.

Once you sign up, you can download the Seesaw Parent app for iPhone or Android, or access your child's journal on the web.

Thanks!

P.S. If you have more than one child using Seesaw, or want to add a new class/school year for your child, follow the link in this email, then click 'Sign in' tab at the top. You do not need to create a new account.

Seesaw

Seesaw empowers students to independently document what they are learning at school.

Students can “show what they know” using photos, videos, drawings, text, PDFs, and links. You can also import directly from most popular apps.

Please sign up for Seesaw by using the QR code I sent home with your child. If you need another one, please email me.
