Welcome to Art! 

My name is Christy Lott. This is my 11th year at SyCamore Elementary. I have been teaching art for the last 20 years.

I'm a wife and mother of two. My youngest is in middle school, and my oldest starts nursing school this year.

I'm the daughter of an artist. I don't remember when I learned to draw. It has always been a part of my life. It never occurred to me that I couldn't draw. Art just seemed a natural place where I've always been comfortable. I see that in my girls. No one ever told them they couldn't draw or create, so they show no fear when it comes to art. That is how I teach too. I believe that every one of my students will succeed. I'm always honest with them in class. I try to offer opportunities that appeal to everyone. Some will soar, and some will merely flutter their wings. But, they will all create! The art class isn't about being the best. It is about the journey. Relax and enjoy the experience.

We will cover a lot of ground in art this year. Students will experience two-dimensional art, three-dimensional art, many different mediums, and lots of different techniques. Students will explore other cultures and be exposed to many various artists. We get messy while we are learning all these things. Please pay attention to your art day and dress appropriately. I'm excited about this year, and I can't wait to work with your students.
